The Russian military presence inside Ukraine has been revealed to be up to six times larger than previously thought, as several soldiers of decreasing size were discovered hidden inside established units.

A recent prisoner exchange in the Western oblasts went awry when several Russian prisoners fell down the stairs, only for them to break apart into increasingly smaller soldiers, until at last only very tiny versions of the supposed soldiers scampered away into the rubble. The Ukrainians managed to recapture around two thirds of the prisoners using cheese-baited cages, but the rest were picked off by owls in the area.

Chief of Defence Intelligence, Adrian Bird, in an interview with BBC, was quick to ridicule.

“Not only are (Russian soldiers) underequipped, sent into the Eastern meat grinder to smash into Ukrainian lines, but they also only have soldiers hiding inside one another rather than working side by side. It really shows you just how hollowed out the Russian military is.”

This is not the first instance of Russian military disguising. Tank units in the Kursk region were discovered to be cardboard cut-outs, and their supposed drivers being bears with waistcoats on tricycles. And in 2022, Russia’s Black Sea flagship, the Moskva, did an excellent impression of a submarine.

Elsewhere on the front line, Zelensky gave an interview while visiting military outposts to visit the stationed troops. He reaffirmed that, even in the face of contrasting international support, Ukraine would never stop fighting for its freedom from foreign aggression.

However, by the end of the interview we had slowly moved a hundred meters to the left to accomodate the Russian advances.
